Here's what we know about the jet ski incident in outer Oahu

Injured photographer Ryan Moss was not on the white jet ski that flew the highest; he is expected to make a full recovery after surgery, nor was Mike Latronic; his driver is unknown

The Hawaiian swell of the decade had its moments of glory, such as the tubes of John John, Kai Lenny, and Justine Dupont, but one of the highlights was the race for life that several jet skis made at the outside spot of Oahu where they broke several of the best waves of the swell.

The identity of the driver and crew member of the jet ski that flew the highest is still unknown, Stab reported. The publication says it spoke to 20 people who were there that day and they have no idea who it is.

The only person injured was California photographer Ryan Moss, now living in Hawaii, who was on one of the jet skis and suffered a 50% compression fracture of his L4 vertebra, the pilot of that craft told MagicSeaweed.

Moss told the European site that after flying through the air when it landed, he felt that the bike had broken and then felt paralysis from the waist down. He thought the worst and was immediately taken to the hospital. Over time, the diagnosis improved, he underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

The professional's friends put together a GoFundMe to help him pay his hospital bills.

Another of the flying motorcycles was that of Mike Latronic and his pilot Greg, the legendary Hawaiian thought that his had been the motorcycle that everyone was talking about but he had a black motorcycle. After losing the jet ski and the equipment, in an Instagram video he tells how he recovered the camera and they were able to return to the coast safe and sound: “I'm happy to be alive,” he said, also highlighting the specialness of the day.

In a note published by Stab, one of the most experienced lifeguards on the North Shore, Bryan Phillips, pointed out that the situation was out of place with the number of motorcycles in the channel. That the dangerous situation had already occurred in the past where the wave they leave behind gets in the way of surfers and can end in an accident.

Everyone agrees that they were having a wonderful day when the horizon darkened with that much larger than normal set. A couple decided to head towards the beach and others took a chance on passing it. The result was clearly worse for those who arrived last, closer to jumping when the wave was breaking.
