Hispanic majority in the quarterfinals of the QS in Costa Rica

The Resano sisters, Blanco, López, McGonagle, Pérez, Mesinas, Muñoz, Canales, Brownell and Blanco got into the final day


The Hispanic majority is overwhelming ahead of the final day of the QS 1500 being held in Jacó Beach. Of the 16 competitors still in the race (8 women and 8 men), 10 are Hispanic.

In the case of men, the following surfers are already in the quarterfinals:

Series 1: Jose Joaquin Lopez vs Noemar McGonagle
Series 2: Chauncey Robinson vs Jairo Pérez
Series 3: Wesley Leite vs Carlos Muñoz
Series 4: Lucca Messinas vs Luel Felipe

Meanwhile, among the ladies, the series were as follows:
Series 1: Valentina Resano vs Rachel Presti
Series 2: Rubiana Brownell vs Meah Collins
Series 3: Tessa Thyssen vs Leticia Canales
Series 4: Candelaria Resano vs Tia Blanco

With a notable improvement in weather conditions that brought sun, heat and a large number of fans to Playa Jacó, the third day of the Essential Costa Rica Surf Pro began.

Following the passage of the storm that hit the Pacific coast of Costa Rica in recent days, the states of alert that were declared by the National Emergency Committee of Costa Rica have been lifted.

Wave conditions also improved, allowing for another day of good maneuvers and barreling in 4-5 foot waves.

On her way to the quarterfinals, Puerto Rico's representative Tia Blanco earned the best score among the Latin American competitors, with 17.23 points. The best score in the Women's category was Meah Collins of the United States (17.54 pts.). Another standout was Leticia Canales of Spain, who earned 16.70 points in Round 2.

Brazil's Luel Felipe scored 16.27 points, the best score of the day in the Men's division, while Venezuela's Jose Joaquin Lopez was the best in the Men's Round 2 and the second best score of the day, with a total of 15.77 points.

The first call will be tomorrow at 8:00am for a possible start at 8:30am. The women's quarterfinals will kick off the last day of the event.

Speaking of hitting the big time, Valentina Resano and her sister Candelaria achieved their best QS result today in Jacó, Costa Rica.
Two years ago, in the last QS held in Costa Rica, Noe Mar McGonagle placed third and was the best Costa Rican in the event. Is the situation better this year, does he tie or does he place fifth?
