Historic: Miguel Tudela made it to the Pipe Masters

He placed second at the Pipe Invitational: after 30 years a Peruvian returned to the most prestigious event on the planet; he will face Italo Ferreira and Matthew McGillivray in round 1


Miguel Tudela has just brought the Peruvian flag to the most prestigious surfing event in the world. He placed second in the Pipe Invitational and this got him into the Pipe Masters, stage 1 of the CT in which in round 1 he will face Italo Ferreira and Matthew McGillivray in their round 1 series.

After competing very well and surfing better, Tudela placed second in the grand final, scoring 12,5 which was worse than the 19,2 but better than the 12,50 of Eala Stewart and the 6,1 of Ian Gentil.

The Punta Hermosa local found a good tube at the beginning of the series that earned him 5,83 which he later backed up with a 7,27. This last score, in the live broadcast, was not very clear what wave it was.

With this result, Peru returns to the most prestigious surfing tournament in the world, 30 years after the legendary Magoo de la Rosa participated in the 86th, 87th, 88th and 90th editions.
