Argentina's number 1 seed, Santiago Muñiz, announced that he will not be attending the tournaments in Australia or traveling to Fernando de Noronha because he chose to "rest so that I can come back better, stronger, fresher," he explained.

“Some of you may have noticed that I didn’t start the year competing. That’s why I wanted to tell you that I’m going to take some time to get back to tournaments. My body and my mind have been giving me signs that I need to stop for a bit…” she said.

She added: “I have been competing for many years, chasing a dream, with all that that means (…) My goals are still the same: the world circuit and the Pan American Games in Lima, but before I can pursue them as I want, I must be 100%. Thank you all for your patience and support. We will be back,” she concluded.

According to those close to him, the Argentine will be out of tournaments for approximately a month and a half, which would mean that he could be expected back in mid-May, when tournaments will be held in Chile, Spain and South Africa.
