“I lost a boat, my car keys, some electronic devices and a little bit of my dignity”
Don Abadie, the Californian who tried to surf Trestles by boat (and ended up facing the authorities), spoke about the incident

Don Abadie, the owner of the boat and the main promoter of the idea of going to surf by boat one of the most crowded waves in the world, Lower Trestles, which ended up on the coast, without a boat and facing the authorities, reflected on his Instagram about what happened:
“I learned an important lesson yesterday: don’t act impulsively. I lost a boat, my car keys, some electronic devices and a bit of my dignity. When the beaches are closed, they’re closed and that means you can’t get in the water from a boat or jet ski. The lifeguards and park rangers were very helpful yesterday even though I was being a fool, so I have to give them credit for that,” he said.
In an interview with comedian Jonathan Wayne Freeman, Abadie said that he and his friend performed an improvised act, seeking to surf perfect waves with no one around.
The surfer said that the authorities were friendly, they told him that if the beach is closed by land, it is also closed by sea.
California is one of the states with the highest concentration of surfers and the rapid spread of Covid 19 in the United States was key to the decision (More than 504.000 people were infected and almost 20.000 died).
