ISA Solidarity Fund benefits 11 federations with 35.000 dollars

The beneficiaries were Afghanistan, Angola, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Fiji, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Venezuela.

The federations of Afghanistan, Angola, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Fiji, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Venezuela received a total of $35.000 from the International Surfing Association as part of the fund created by the organization to help combat the impact of Covid-19, they reported in a statement sent to the press today.

“The projects to be funded vary according to the needs of each individual community, such as community improvement programs, distribution of hygiene supplies, forgiveness of membership fees, compensation for economic losses due to lack of tourism income, provision of balanced meals and clean water to families in need, and organization of classes for students who have not been able to attend school remotely since schools closed,” the statement said.

“The principle of solidarity with our affected National Federations is more important than ever in these difficult times. The global economic downturn has been difficult for almost everyone, but we felt it was essential to support those within the surfing community who have been most affected,” said ISA President Fernando Aguerre.

He added: “This solidarity initiative is a reflection of our mantra ‘A better world through surfing’. We look forward to hearing reports from around the world as these initiatives bring about change.”

According to a statement released by the Venezuelan federation earlier this week, 4.000 of the 35.000 distributed were for them.
