ISA calls for extending the number of Olympic surfers from 24 to 36 for LA 2028

A response from the authorities is expected in the first quarter of 2025, "probably in March," Aguerre said at the annual general meeting.

The International Surfing Association has called for the number of Olympic surfers in Los Angeles 2028 to be increased from 24 to 36, totaling 72 men and women, Fernando Aguerre said at the ISA Annual General Meeting held on December 12 and posted on the ISA's YouTube channel.

The agenda stated in point 5 of the president's report that one of the topics to be discussed was "updates on Los Angeles 2028." And it was at this point that Aguerre informed the members present at the assembly that the quota of Olympic surfers was requested to be increased to 36.

The president also said that once the quota of athletes is confirmed, the qualification process will be confirmed.

He also said that the definitive answer on whether longboarding will take place at the event will come in the first quarter of 2025, "probably in March."
