If the Olympics had been this year, the waves would have been girly and fun

The models show waves between half a metre and one metre; there will definitely not be significant swells on the scheduled dates.

The waves for surfing's debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are said to have been fun and girly, according to forecasts from two of the world's leading surf weather portals, Surfline and Magicseaweed, which have the same owner (Surfline) but use different technology.

From July 26 to August 2 was the official waiting period for a two-division, 40-person championship that can likely be completed in two days.

For Surfline the first three days the sea is flat and for Magicseaweed it is a little more than half a metre and there is a good period; at most a small sea.

The American website shows that it will grow to two feet on Friday 29th with the arrival of a small northeast swell and onshore winds.

Magicseaweed is more optimistic about what will happen these days, marking for the 30th up to 1,5 meters and 10 seconds of period with onshore winds most of the day.

What both models do agree on is that on the last day of the period, August 2, the sea rises thanks to a small swell from the East at 3 feet and 8 seconds for Surfline and 1,5 and 9 seconds for Magicseaweed.

Both models also agree that it would be good to be able to use the contingency period and use it the following day, Monday the 3rd, when the aforementioned eastern swell continues.

The most optimistic model is perhaps Windguru, which shows the same swell from the East on the 30th with a period of one meter and 10 seconds and on the 31st with a period of 1,2 and 18 seconds (this swell appears as tertiary on Surfline)... That would improve the scenario considerably.

In two of the last three years a cyclone swell came in right on the date of the games in Shida Shita, everything indicates that this will not happen in 2020 and who knows, maybe the pandemic came to bring better waves in 2021.

Magicseaweed's simplified forecast for surfing days if the games were this year.
And the one from Surfline.
Will the 1,2 meters with an 18-second period stated by Windguru become a reality?
