“If you want to be heroes, to surf these waves or this swell, don’t do it.”

Jason Magallanes' message to all the "kooks" who went into the water in Hawaii during these swell days; according to him: "They have no idea what they're doing"

Respected North Shore local Jason Magallanes expressed his disapproval on camera of people going into the water: “I don’t know what they’re doing in those six-meter waves. Don’t go. Yesterday I had to save a lot of people. If you want to be heroes, surfing these waves or this swell, don’t do it.”

He added: “They have no idea what they’re doing. They don’t know how to tow, they don’t know how to use a jet ski. If they don’t know how to navigate through waves, they don’t know how to navigate channels, they don’t know where to be when the waves come in.”

And he finished with a comment that might raise eyebrows in safety groups: “Speaking of crazy people, I went to check out Waimea; I have a calf strain, that’s why I was on my jet ski and… those guys there! Falling, crashing. Why do they wear life jackets at Waimea? First of all, there are 10 skis in the channel, in waves of four to five meters, maybe six meters, but my god, it’s so irritating. From the towboats to the barneys trying to say, ‘Oh, I surfed Waimea today, bro.’ Damn, it’s fine that you want to surf and experience it, but be clear about what you’re going to do before you paddle out or take a jet ski when the waves are big.”

In addition to the message, the people at Surf Channel Hawaii, who reposted the message, wrote:

“Attention, all you kooks” and tagged @jasonmags_808.

"Stop all this bullshit from you guys in the water. You have no idea what you're doing here and you're putting us in danger. You look like clowns trying to surf our local waves here at Waimea/North Shore."

You're putting the lives of our lifeguards @hawaiilifeguardassociation @northshorelifeguardassociation at risk when you have nothing to do in the water. Most of you don't even know where you are.

You're putting us in danger. We have Ohana (family), we like going home at the end of the day. It's dangerous enough here without having to deal with you and your attitude.

Don't cry when we start regulating and don't cry when your loved ones come home in a wooden box.

This surf is no game. It's only for local experts/professionals. If in doubt, don't go out. Mahalo!
