There are also waves in El Salvador in December

There can't be a better Christmas gift than this, with Byran Pérez and Lucca Mesinas

There were Christmas presents in El Salvador this year, in the form of long, perfect, tubular right-handers… Painted, dreamed of, unimaginable… And on top of that, with few people!

There are waves in El Salvador in December too, there are big waves. Anyone who thinks that this is the case from April to September is wrong.

Below is the audiovisual evidence.

“It was an incredible swell, we always look forward to it for Christmas. The waves were super good!” said local superstar Bryan Pérez.

“It was a rough day, with a strange wind, but after a few hours the offshore wave started and the waves were incredible. I also think it was one of the best days of the year. There are few days that are the best and I think the Christmas swell fell to that level. Tubes in all the waves, Punta Roca with six feet and not many people. We had a great time with everyone, there was Lucca, Gabriel from Peru, Erickson Ortiz and all the locals enjoyed the swell,” Bryan added.

Meanwhile, Lucca said: “That day was incredible. It was right on Christmas. We arrived early and there was a strong wind in the morning, it was bad. I still got in but it was very difficult to run. We went back to El Tunco, had something to eat and out of nowhere I saw a strong offshore boat coming in and we said 'what!'”

“And at about 11, 11:30 we came back and the waves were incredible. And I got into the ocean at 12 and I didn’t get out until six in the afternoon. And the craziest thing, which really bothered me, was that it was incredible, there was no one in the water and there was no one filming. It drove me crazy because I must have gone in like 25 tubes in the six hours that I ran without getting out of the water with Gabrielito and there wasn’t a single cameraman. The only one was Gordiño who filmed at the beginning and then at the end,” explained Lucca, who competed in ALAS and stayed in Central America.

"The best time I had was at 4 or 5 in the afternoon and there was no one in the water. It was me, Gabrielito and two other gringos and the waves were coming by themselves, great tubes, perfect, offshore, I thought I was in Jeffreys Bay."
