Five boards painted by Uruguayan artist Eduardo Bolioli, representing the Olympic rings, will celebrate Olympic surfing at the classic Outrigger Canoe Club of which Duke Kahanamoku was a member.

For the exhibition, which will remain permanently in the facilities, Bolioli painted five boards, each one representing an Olympic ring, the central one with the figure of DUKE and the other four with the members of the American surfing team: Hawaiians John John Florence and Carissa Moore, Californian Kolohe Andino and Floridian Caroline Marks.

Duke's relative Kahu Aona will be present at the event on Thursday to perform a Hawaiian blessing of the exhibit.

According to Bolioli's information to DUKE, the guests will include former world champion Fred Hemmings and former Makaha Classic champion Joey Cabell, who were friends of Duke.

“I am delighted to be able to host this event in Waikiki, the birthplace of modern surfing, and to perpetuate the historic achievement of the sport being included in the Olympic Games,” Bolioli said in a press release sent by the organization.
