In the middle of October, good waves are coming to El Gringo

If the predictions are confirmed, the QS 2000 and Olas Pro Tour will have big waves in the classic Arica surf break.

With October being the height of spring in the Southern Hemisphere, the swell forecast for the Arica Pro Tour, the WSL QS 2000 and a stage of the Olas Pro Tour, will have a healthy dose of swell, according to surf meteorology website Surfline.

The waves that broke today, which managed to land a few barrels, will improve starting tomorrow and for the following days of the event, which runs from the 22nd to the 26th.

Surfline reports that the sea will be better than today, with 2 to 3 feet and up to 4 feet tomorrow. And it continues to rise, with Thursday and Friday holding at 4 to 5 feet, followed by a rising weekend: Saturday with 4 to 6 feet and Sunday with 6 to 8 feet.

Organizer and longtime wave expert Francisco Oso Gana told DUKE: "It's looking very good for Saturday and Sunday."

Gana also announced that tomorrow will see the U16 and U18 heats of the Olas Pro Tour, which will feature women in an international event for the first time in history, on one of the most dangerous waves in the world.
