The waves of Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu in India will host the first ever QS in the country, the WSL announced, between August 14 and 20.

The event will be level 3000 and is expected to bring together the best surfers from the WSL Asian region.

India has just made its first appearance at the ISA World Surfing Games, with three surfers from the country making an appearance at the tournament.

The waves of Mahabalipuram break 300 kilometers from the giant city of Bangalore.

According to The Inertia, the president of the Surfing Federation of India, Arun Vasu, said that the choice of this wave was due to the consistency of the wave and also that it is a place with great historical value because it has a legendary temple on the coast.

“Some states have tried to hold an event previously but failed because it is very expensive. It is a huge investment for a new sport that is just growing in India,” he added.

This will be the first ever QS in India.
