Japan's Taka Inoue was left out of the finals but decided to go to El Salvador anyway, he announced on social media.

Inoue was in El Salvador last year and decided to return even though he won't be competing.

“I am flying to El Salvador. I am going to El Salvador even though I was not able to make it to the finals, because I had already bought the ticket, as I was tied for seventh place in the world rankings before the Abu Dhabi event,” he explained.

He added: “The extra cost for my boards was almost the same as a ticket for one person, so I bought a ticket for Kaede instead of paying for the boards, and we will go together. I won’t be able to compete in El Salvador, but the waves are very good there, so we will take this opportunity to practice a lot, improve our skills and return home.”

Inoue has been to El Salvador several times already. She won silver there this year at the ISA World Championships and last year she also participated in the CT longboard stage that took place there.
