Panamanian Isauro Elizondo won the 15 to 17 year old category of the  57th edition of the East Coast Surfing Championship and was vice-president in the open division.

The tournament concluded yesterday with a swell of wind and waves of half a meter in Virginia Beach, after a marathon day of heats that crowned pro-youth and professional champions in 10 other categories.

"I was very happy to win the boys category and come second in Open. I have been doing this event for a long time now and it is one of my favorites of the year, despite the waves being very small. I feel very proud of myself for having represented my country in an excellent way," said the Panamanian to the press of his federation after winning the event.

In the 15 to 17 age division, Tao Rodríguez, also from Panama, joined on the podium, placing fourth, and in the open category the podium was almost 100% Latin, as Sam Reidy and Aaron Ramirez from Costa Rica placed third and fourth respectively.

The best Hispanic performance in the professional division was that of Joaquín del Castillo from Peru, who placed third in the QS 3000, adding 1180 points that allowed him to climb 19 positions in the ranking and now rank 69th.

Among the pro juniors, those who went the furthest were Tao Rodríguez and Sam Reidy who finished in 9th and 13th respectively.
