Aguerre: “It is clear that it is time to go out and practice individual sports”
"If people walk everywhere, then someone in the province and the nation should please give the OK to the request of the Mar del Plata authorities to authorize individual sports"
The president of the International Surfing Association, Fernando Aguerre, insisted again on the return of surfing to the Argentine surfing capital, Mar del Plata. In a post on his Instagram he said: “As I have been asking various authorities for more than a month, it is clear that it is time to go out and practice individual sports.”
"If runners can run in CABA (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires) and Mar del Plata, if people walk everywhere, then someone in the province and the nation should please give the OK to the request from the Mar del Plata authorities to authorize individual sports," added Aguerre.
“Enough of unhealthy and unjustified confinement for individual athletes,” said Aguerre, who thanked the city's mayor “for sending the protocols for individual sports and gastronomy.”
Mar del Plata hasn't had any surfing for more than 80 days and there's a lot of fuss about the fact that people can go out for a walk and not just be in the middle of the sea.
The Argentine Surf Association wrote a protocol, met with authorities, involved politicians and made several attempts to make the return of the sport to the surf city a reality without achieving positive results, for now.
The ISA president, who spent the quarantine in Mar del Plata, remained silent for a long time until last week when he emphatically wrote: “I have my balls full of not surfing.”
