“It’s funny how some scary moments can end up in something special”

Another chapter in the special saga of this Hawaiian season of encounters and collisions; this one had a happy ending, with Brett Barley and Maddix Alotis

in the saga of coalitions or controversial meetings that had the season on the North Shore this year, came one that could have been serious but ended with a happy ending.

North Carolina local Brett Barley headed to Pipe and North Shore local Maddix Alotis headed to Backdoor, they didn't see each other and almost had a very, very bad time.

Especially young Alotis, who falls on top of Barley's board in a place where there is no more than two meters of depth.

As Barley told The Inertia, it all went like this: “Neither of us saw each other and it almost ended badly, but luckily we both came out unscathed. I noticed that Maddix has a calm and humble demeanor when he talks when we went out and saw that his board had broken and it didn’t seem right to me that a good young man should get the short end of the stick in an unfortunate situation so I gave him one of my 6’8” as a replacement.”

“It’s funny how some scary moments can end up being something special. I can’t wait to see Max continue his charge on the North Shore as he gets older, and I say ‘continue’ because the kid is already running things these days. So you should definitely go follow him on social media,” the goofy footer said.

Below is the video of the event.
