It's official: There will be no Eddie this season.
Even though the period closes on March 6, they have already indicated that there will be no swell to make the bay function at the necessary level.
"It's official. There will be no Eddie Aikau event for the 2025-2026 winter season," the organizers of the prestigious event stated in an email, as reported by The Inertia in a note published on its website.
The waiting period began on December 5 and ends on March 6, but since there is nothing on the horizon, they closed the doors to this year's edition.
"Waimea Bay is forecast to be below Eddie level for the next seven days. We were hoping for a third consecutive title, but we'll have to wait for the next winter surf season on the North Coast," they said.
The event had been held twice in a row, with Luke Shepardson and Landon McNamara winning both editions.
A historic third consecutive win could not be achieved.
