Brazil's Italo Ferreira took home the gold medal at the ISA World Surfing Games presented by Vans after 10 days of intense action, big and small waves and history being written with the best of the CT making an appearance.
In the final, Ferreira was building scores but took off when he completed an incredible aerial that was worth 10 points, the only perfect score of the entire event, which he then backed up with a 7,77 and left the competition in the dust.
Kolohe Andino was close to winning his first world title, he surfed all the series well and fought until the last second, when he posted 9,43 with an aerial but it was useless because he left combolandia but the series ended when the score was heard.
In the end the difference was 17,77 to 17,06. In third place was Gabriel Medina with a score of 14,53 and in fourth place was the local star, Shun Murakami with a score of 11,74.
“I feel so happy, that was very good for me, it was a very crazy week. I came from the garbage to the victory and yes, it was incredible,” he told the press after getting out of the water, referring to the fact that he arrived late to his first series after his passport was stolen and he had to go through a nightmare of embassies, trips and consulates.
Regarding the 10, he said that he did know that that aerial was worth it because he thought he wasn't going to complete it, "when I felt that I had done it I said to myself 'ohhh that was crazy'. It was a 10 for sure because it was a clean and high aerial."

Silver: Andean Kolohe
