Italo Ferreira was injured and is in doubt for the events that follow
He fell badly doing a backside floater, continued surfing the series injured, won and now it is not known if he will appear in the quarterfinals or in Tahiti.
Current world number three Italo Ferreira injured his right leg today in his US Open round of 16 tie against Michael Rodrigues and is in doubt for the final day of the tournament and the next stage of the CT, the Tahiti Pro in Teahupoo next week.
As seen in the live broadcast, Ferreira landed badly on a backside floater, was visibly in pain and continued the series, grabbing his hamstrings on that leg on more than one occasion.
They then reported that they were going to perform an MRI to determine how long he would be out of the water.
Ferreira would have to face Jadson André in the quarterfinals tomorrow and everything indicates that he will not do so.
Then, next week he will have to participate in the seventh stage of the CT.
We will expand.
