Izzi Gómez, Natxo González and Domi Charrier nominated for the big wave awards
There's $100.000 in prizes across all categories; Spain's Alberto Truncer is a strong contender for wipeout of the year
Colombian Izzi Gómez, Basque Natxo González and Chilean Dominique Charrier are all nominated for the big wave awards organized by Surfer magazine.
On September 19th at the Lido Theatre in California, the awards will be presented in the old-fashioned way, in a ceremony like the Oscars.
Gomez is nominated for wave of the year for a barrel at Teahupoo; Natxo for a barrel at Mullaghmore and Charrier in double for the biggest paddled wave at Punta de Lobos and best overall female performance.
Finally, that impressive wipeout by Spaniard Alberto Truncer earned him a nomination for the heist of the year.
Below are all the categories and nominees.
