A neat alley oop gave Jack Freestone the victory in the final of the third edition of Red Bull Airborne, the second of 2019. The third consecutive championship won by a CT surfer and not one of the invited aerial specialists.

Hawaiians Kalani David and Eli Hanneman placed second and third, with Ian Crane, Eric Geiselman and Mason Ho completing the final.

In the WSL press release they joked that since Italo won the Airborne and then the championship in the Duranbah stage, now is the chance for the same to happen to Freestone.

“I’m so happy to win this event. It was so much fun sharing the water with all these guys,” said the Australian. “I have a really good relationship with Keramas. I love this spot and it suits me well with my surfing. My plan now is to take this confidence into the main championship and hopefully win some heats on the CT over the weekend.”

According to the forecast, a new swell will enter Keramas and there will be waves for the end of the tournament, which is expected to be during the weekend.
