Jack Robinson guaranteed himself in the finals
And now there are six surfers left for two available spots.
Australian Jack Robinson has just secured his place at the WSL Finals, which will take place at Lower Trestles from September 6-14.
The Australian achieved his goal of reaching the quarter-finals after beating Connor O'Leary in the round of 16.
With this result, John John Florence, who will finish first regardless of the result of the rest, Griffin Colapinto and now Robinson are already guaranteed.
Two places remain for Gabriel Medina, Crosby Colapinto, Yago Dora, Ethan Ewing and Italo Ferreira.
Medina and Colapinto depend on the rest of the surfers failing to achieve their goal. Ewing, Dora and Ferreira depend on themselves.
In fact, if Ferreira passes his battery soon against Barron Mamiya, he will guarantee himself a place in the finals.
