Jairo and Leilani won the first of the Costa Rican circuit
The rest of the categories contested were won by Aron Ramirez, Rubiana Brownwell, Tao Rodriguez, Ido Hagag, Ethan Hollander and Erika Berra.
Jairo Pérez and Leilani McGonagle won the Open category of the first stage of the Costa Rican national surfing circuit, the Envision Surf Cup, which concluded last Sunday in the good waves of Playa Dominical.
With a combination of 11,33 in the final, Pérez left Tomás King in second place, Anthony Fillingim in third place and Olman Morales in fourth place.
For her part, Leilani, national champion in 2016, won by an advantage considered a final where she added 11.50 leaving the current champion Rubiana Brownell second, Lisbeth Vindas third and Paula Duarte fourth.
In the other categories, the winners were Aron Ramirez, Rubiana Brownwell, Tao Rodriguez, Ido Hagag, Ethan Hollander and Erika Berra.
The Costa Rican federation implemented, in the style of the WSL, the use of a distinctive lycra for the leader of the ranking starting this year. Thus, Jairo Pérez and Leilani McGonagle will wear yellow for the next stage that will take place on Cocles beach in Puerto Viejo, on February 23 and 24, where the Marley Cup will be held.
It was also reported that “the possibility of including more categories in the Circuit from the following date is being evaluated. This announcement will be made in the coming days,” the statement said.
