Former CT member Jessé Mendes announced that he will not seek to go to Paris 2024 because his interests have changed, he told the Brazilian podcast Let's Surf a week ago.
He said that he grew up dreaming of other things, like the CT and not the Olympic Games, and that he can still make a living from professional surfing and what he wants is to surf in cold places with few people.
He also said that he even apologized to the Italians because he had created expectations in them and now he has given up.
"I was thinking: 'Do I have that dream? No. Why would I kill myself to achieve it?'" he said, adding that he would rather give his place to an Italian who really has the dream and is up to the pace of the competition.
This means that, unlike last year's ISA in El Salvador, Mendes will not be part of the 2024 edition, which will take place in February 2024 in Puerto Rico.
