Peruvian Joaquín del Castillo surfed the best wave and achieved the best sum of the Arica Pro Tour so far, which today concluded its third day.

In his round 1 heat, he was in good sync with the waves and after posting a decent 5,67 for a barrel, he waited until 5:50 to go with priority to drop a double bomb to triple overhead, set a good line to get into the barrel and exit after the spit after four seconds completely hidden.

The beach erupted with this wave and the judges gave it 9 points.

De Castillo told DUKE that he had previously seen a similar wave and regretted not going there, and that he set out to find it, which he did.

He then went back into the water and advanced to the round of 16 surfers.

The following competitors also made it into the top 16 of the tournament: Ian Gouveia, Vitor Ferreira, Rafael Texeira, Heitor Muller, Valentin Neves, Leandro Usuna and Eric Bahía.

The wind forced the competition to stop at 10:40, leaving four rounds of 32 that were planned for today to be played.
