Peruvian Joaquín del Castillo won the first of three stages that will define the new South American Triple Crown, which had its first stop in El Gringo this weekend.

Making clear what the South American Pipe is, there were consistent waves in the middle of December and there were several tubes on the championship days.

With a good nose at El Gringo and a lot of experience on the wave, he left Brazilian Gabriel Klaussner in second place, local Guillermo Satt in third and another Brazilian, Victor Ferreira, in fourth.

The second stop of this triple crown will be at the Colegio de Iquique or at Buey de Arica between April and May 2025 and, according to the organization, the third will be in Itacoatiara.

The winner of the event will qualify for the prestigious Capitulo Perfeito tube event held in Carcavelos, Portugal, which features the best tube riders on the planet.

He was champion at El Buey a few weeks ago and now he is champion at El Gringo.
When it comes to class waves, Joaquín del Castillo is a very heavy name.
And he also knows how to maneuver like a genius.
El Gringo is the South American Pipe but it is much more consistent than Pipe and at that size it becomes very dangerous.
