An hour after Jamie O'Brien shared the video of one of his Tokoro boards being stolen from his Waikiki surf shop and school, the young thieves were already confessing to the crime, he and others reported on social media, The Inertia reported yesterday.

O'Brien had shown the full video of three young men entering the store, one of whom breaks away and goes to a dressing room, then unbolts a board from the wall and takes it out the back door.

The former Pipe Master was critical of the behavior and said it was something that needed to be resolved first and then discussed.

“Thanks to your help, we were able to identify the three people who stole my surfboard from our Waikiki shop. Since that was the primary goal, I've removed the video. I'm so grateful to everyone who reached out. It's a shame these things happen… Hopefully this will be the last time,” the Hawaiian wrote in his stories.

One of those who helped track down the boys, a local named Tyler Watanabe quoted by The Inertia, said: “Guys, you need to learn a lesson: These days, it’s so easy to get caught and exploited on social media. Don’t do anything stupid. There are cameras everywhere.”
