Joel Tudor continues to push as WSL extends silence on longboard tour

Reigning longboarding world champion and legend Joel Tudor continued his quest to improve the status of longboarders in the WSL with a somewhat more racy post.

He used images of Bugs Bunny eating carrots while sitting on a pile of dollars and then an allegory with a poor man asking for money “for longboarders.”

In the text he writes: “Hey WSL, Erik Logan, Jessi Miley Dyer, we are one week into March, month three of the year, and there are still no plans for our existence within your organization! The letter in response we all received was laughable and insulting!

“I would love to say ‘that’s all folks’, but sadly we are here, still with no answers and no hope for a future. More than disrespectful and not very egalitarian,” he added.

In a previous video, Tudor suggests that existing stages could be added to the waves as was done before. He gives the example of the Lowers finals, which he believes is a perfect wave for the discipline.

Tudor had previously posted a comparison of the success of female longboarders versus female surfers on social media, using it as an argument that fans are more adept at longboards in the genre.

Devon Howard, the division's commissioner, responded that they were taking action and called Tudor's message "inappropriate and misleading."
