No diagnosis has yet been made public regarding the health status of John John Florence after he retired yesterday from the Oi Rio Pro, the fifth stage of the Tour won by Filipe Toledo.

Nothing has been updated on their networks, nor have the media that have more access to the Hawaiian.
Yesterday on the live stream WSL commissioner Renato Hickel said that John John would not be taking the water against Jordy Smith in the quarter-finals: “We got an update from John John’s team, Brandon Wasserman contacted us this morning and said that John does not feel confident enough to surf today and he is officially withdrawing from the event and is going to get his treatment done.”

According to commentators, John John had an MRI after coming out of the water on Saturday. Nothing is known about the results and their interpretation yet.

In his Saturday heat against Wade Carmichael, John John lowered a bomb and as he was flying out of it, his leg “twisted” as he said and he got scared. That’s why he left the water but he went forward anyway.
