Current world champion John John Florence shared that the competition overwhelms him, but not only when he's on the CT but also free surfing at Pipe, reported the
Tracks magazine shared a fragment of an interview they published in the print version of the magazine.

“It’s overwhelming because I feel like I’m competing all the time, like when I’m competing in competitions, and then I’m competing when I’m at Pipe with my brothers, Barron, and all these guys, and it’s a freesurfing session,” John John said.

And she added: “And if someone gets a good one, I try to hold on for five more hours until I get a better one. And if the wind is blowing from the west or crosswise, I think, 'I have to do a full backside air today.' I have to do… I want to do a full frontside air today. And so it's definitely overwhelming. Sometimes I feel like every day is good for something.”

The Hawaiian left the tour this year, making way for Alan Cleland to compete full-time on the tour.
