Californian Jojo Roper and Hawaiian Emily Erickson were the big winners of a controversial Nelscott Reef Pro, which took place yesterday on a day of good waves at the outside break in Lincoln City, Oregon.

The event caused a lot of noise on social media because two organizers wanted to hold their event on the same day, the Nelscott Reef Pro and the Nelscott Reef Big Wave Classic. In the end, the second one stepped aside, saying that the conditions were not the best and the first one ended.

With an expression session format, in a six-hour window all competitors could go into the water to get their bomb, the best wave of the day would win.

Chileans Rafael Tapia and Margarita Adrovez and Peruvian Ignacio Salazar competed in the tournament. The exact position of each was not announced, but it is known that they were not on the podium.

The full results were as follows:
Men
1st Jojo Roper
2nd Nic Lamb, Anthony Tashnick, Joseph Hardman

Ladies
1st Emily Erickson
2nd Bianca Balenti
3rd Rquel Heckert

Emily Erickson took the women's category. All photos: Nelscott Reef Pro.
Bianca Valenti took a few bombs to place second.
Nic Lamb putting down a good one and heading for second place in the event.
There was uncertainty about whether the bombs would go in, but they eventually did.
The waves at Nelscott are relatively quiet year-round, but when the event takes place, things change.
Waves came in.
