Jonathan Gonzalez won the Quemao Class
The Canary Islander won his first title at the Atlantic Pipe Masters with a 10 in the final
Canary Islander Jonathan González has just easily won the Atlantic Pipe Masters, the Quemao Class, after adding 17 points that included a 10 to beat Marc Larcomare, William Allioti and Gilmar Catealani.
In a place where left-handed tubes predominate, with less favorable wind conditions, González focused on the right-handed ones and first came out of a good tube to get 10 and then backed up with maneuvers to add 7.
Larcomare tried a good left barrel and another wave of maneuvers but it was not enough.
Incredibly, as reported on the broadcast, Gonzalez almost missed his first heat of the day, the quarter-finals, arriving five minutes late and in 15 minutes he found two good barrels that allowed him to advance. Then, in the semis, he knocked out Ian Cosenza and Joshua Braddock went all out for the grand final.
Final result:
1: Jonathan Gonzalez
2: Marc Larcomare
3: William Wllioti
4: Gilmar Catelani
