Julián Schweizer won runner-up position in prestigious longboard tournament in Baja California

The Uruguayan beat several of the best in the world at the Peninsula Longboard and Film Festival

Uruguayan longboarder Julián Schweizer placed second in the international Península Longboard and Film tournament held this weekend in Tres Emes, Ensenada, Baja California.

Schweizer had the best wave of the final but needed a better backup to beat Brandon White. He combined 7,17 and 4,37 to reach 11,54 and the American did 6,43 and 5,63 to achieve 12,06.

In third and fourth place were Raymond Sayles and Koby Gilchrist.

The Uruguayan qualified for the final stages in second place in the pre-qualifying round, and then in the quarter-finals he beat one of the most respected classic longboarders in the world, Andy Nieblas.

“I am very happy to have finished second, although I am still a bit disappointed that I didn't win because I had the best wave in the final, I just needed to catch a back up. The level of the championship was very high, the organization was very good with everyone and had tremendous good vibes,” said the longboarder in contact with DUKE.

“Here in Ensenada we were welcomed with open arms and I am very grateful for that. I hope to return next year to see if I can climb one more position. I am super happy and thrilled to be able to get a first place in the last championship in California, and now come here and get second. This motivates me to continue training and face the three championships I have left here in California in the best way possible,” he added, noting that he will compete in two more events in California and then return to Uruguay to prepare for the ALAS events that will take place in November and December.
