Kai Sallas is the new ISA World Champion. The Hawaiian was crowned champion on the perfect waves of El Sunzal after displaying an impeccable classic longboarding style in a very close final.

The regular footer started quickly with a 9,5 in the first minutes of the series, which he quickly backed up with a 7,83.

The podium was completed by Taka Inoue of Japan, Rodrigo Sphaier of Brazil and Edouard Delpero of Hawaii in that order.

Sallas is coming off a WSL World Championship win and was previously ISA World Champion in China in 2018.

The title places her in a short list of surfers who have achieved more than one ISA world title while also winning the WSL tour.

A few days ago, in an interview with DUKE, Sallas said that after winning the WSL title he stopped surfing for five months and that he was motivated when he saw that this event was going to take place and that Hawaii could compete (click here).
