Local young talent from Teahupoo, Kauli Vaast won the trials yesterday in solid and perfect conditions breaking after a long day of surfing one of the heaviest and most perfect waves on the planet.
He, along with Hawaiian finalist Tyler Newton, made it to the main event and will participate in the following series:
Kauli Vaast vs Italo Ferreira vs Sebastian Zietz
Tyler Newton vs Filipe Toledo vs Joan Duru
The waiting period for the event will begin next Wednesday and runs until September 1st.
