“Another day and another article that is completely wrong,” Keala Kennelly headed her message, explaining that Surfer magazine made a serious mistake in an article in which it said that the first women's WSL event at Teahupoo had been in 2006 when in reality, the Hawaiian explains, it was in 1998.

Kennelly had explained the day before that another media outlet had said that the first 10 in history had been achieved by Tatiana Weston Webb a few weeks earlier when in fact it had been her, sharing in the video a note from a local Hawaiian newspaper that reported it in 2001.

“I reached out to @surfer_magazine and they have made the changes (thank you), but if I hadn’t, this misinformation lives on the internet forever and diminishes the surf legacy of the athletes who worked so hard and sacrificed so much so that this generation of women can finally get the recognition they deserve. Do you think the media needs to do a better job of providing accurate information about women?” the big rider, tube rider and former member of the world tour ends her message.
