“I hope to die in the ocean someday. It would be peaceful for me,” Kelly Slater told Kcal News, adding, “Maybe when I’m 100 or something. Maybe I’ll ride a giant wave, a 60-foot wave, a 100-foot wave when I’m 100!”

The best in history had been asked if he would continue to be seen on the waves, and he emphatically responded yes.

He also talked about his career and the years that passed since that first victory at Lowers in 1990 and how special it was for him as he began his sponsorship with Quik, filmed Kelly Slater in Black and White, and started putting money in the bank.

Slater lost to Barron Mamiya at the event he was a wildcard in, saying he had no desire to compete.
