Kelly Slater announced that she will retire next year
“My plan is to prepare well and for next year to be my last on the circuit,” she said on the WSL live broadcast.
Eleven-time world champion Kelly Slater announced minutes ago today during the World Surf League's live broadcast of the JBay event that 2019 will be his last year on the circuit.
“My basic plan is to get ready for next year, be healthy and have that be my last season on tour, and then I’ll be done with it,” he said while talking about Joel Parkinson who announced today that he would retire from the tour after competing in the Pipe Masters.
Slater competed earlier, against Italo Ferreira and Kanoa Igarashi, and placed third. The Japanese won the heat and Italo placed second. According to him, he was surfing because he was in the zone, he does not consider his foot to be 100%.
On the other hand, he also confirmed that he will go and compete in Teahupoo.
