Koa Smith claims to have been cured of a brain injury thanks to the use of psychedelic mushrooms

After a blow that occurred in the historic swell of Nias in 2018, the Hawaiian thought about committing suicide but everything changed after his experience

Hawaiian Koa Smith claims to have recovered from the effects of a brain injury thanks to an experience with psychedelic mushrooms, he says in his recently released short film, Resurfacing.

After having an accident in Nias in 2018 in the middle of what was a historic swell, he hit his entire body, including his head, and fainted. He says he remembers hearing the sound of violins until he realized he was underwater and managed to get out.

He felt the brain injury because he had difficulty speaking and coordinating at first, and then, once at home, he fell into a depression that led him to think about suicide daily.

Finally, together with one of his brothers, they went to the jungle of Kauai to take mushrooms and he says he feels that his being became alive again and that was the change for everything. Since that session he came back as an improved version of himself, eating healthy, giving up alcohol, marijuana and being a better version of himself.

In the film and in the post, Smith warns that he is not encouraging the use of psychedelic drugs, but that he does believe in it. He also says that he was previously afraid to share his experience with them for fear of losing sponsors.

The film is available above and below Smith's post.
