Lay day at the longboard world championship: Five things to do in El Tunco

A short walk brings you to the picturesque village where this can and should be done.

Special coverage presented by Surf City - El Salvador Travel

From El Sunzal to El Tunco there is a three to five minute walk. It is always better to do it at low tide, as in the video.

The town is very picturesque and has everything you need to have a good time and also to get supplies. That is to say: There are all kinds of restaurants, bars, parties, supermarkets, cafes and obviously, pupuserias.

The five activities we chose to do were:

-Have a coffee at the picturesque Point Break. Very tasty indeed, the coffee is obviously Salvadoran, from Santa Ana, a coffee capital of a coffee-growing country.

-Eating a pupusa at the El Sol pupuseria. At one dollar a pupusa, it's incredible. I've been coming to El Salvador for many years and ever since I can remember, those pupusas have cost one dollar.

I chose the one with cheese and jalapeños, my love for spicy food always gets the better of me.

- César's raspada is another typical drink from El Tunco. It's basically a piece of ice cut to fit into the glass and flavoured with whatever you can think of. I chose coconut, strawberry and pineapple. I added cream and that sweet with coconut pieces. A delight.

-Surfing La Bocana, of course. One of the most emblematic waves in El Salvador, one of the few lefts, which as we have been saying (everything is close), breaks approximately one kilometer from El Sunzal. It's crazy how many waves there are.

And yes, I took the photo with the Surf City logo and the board that is there.

-The walk ended with the classic selfie with El Tunco in the background. That stone is supposed to be a pig upside down and its two hands. You have to have a prodigious, gigantic imagination to see it.

There are several examples on the Internet and I still can't figure it out.

Oh right, and here's the selfie.

Once again, it was clear how great El Salvador is: everything is close by, everything is plentiful, and everything is beautiful and picturesque. Like El Tunco and the five things you can do there.
