Lele Usuna is the new Argentine surfing champion
He won the last stage in La Paloma and left no room for the calculator. Franco Radziunas was the sensation of the event and placed second
Leandro Usuna has just won his third Argentine surfing title after winning the Quiksilver La Paloma, the fifth and final stage of the Argentine surfing circuit.
Usuna needed to place himself above Marcelo Rodríguez, Mariano and Facundo Arreyes and Lucas Santamaría to lift the cup once again. And so he did, with emphasis on a day of perfect waves at the traditional spot in the south of Mar del Plata.
The furthest of the contenders was Facundo Arreyes, who finished third, when he lost his semi-final series and Usuna went on to the final, the title immediately went to the stylish regular footer.
“I am very happy to win again in La Paloma and to get my third Argentine championship title. Today it was my turn to win, but the real champion is Franquito… He surfed very well throughout the event, at 15 years old he got into the final and was a very tough rival. I congratulate him, a great career awaits him,” said Usuna after being carried by friends and family.
The sensation of the tournament was 15-year-old Franco Radziunas, who placed second, beating heavyweight rivals such as Marcelo Rodríguez along the way.
Final results:
1- Leandro Usuna
2- Franco Radziunas
3- Juanchi Arca
3- Facundo Arreyes
