Lele Usuna unstoppable in the Philippines
In one of the championships with the most perfect waves of the year, the Argentine at least equaled his best result of the season
Argentine Leandro Usuna made it to the quarterfinals of the QS 3000 in the Philippines, the Siargao Cloud 9 Surfing Cup and at least tied his best result of the year, which was also fifth in the event of the same category that took place in the heavy tubes of Arica, Chile.
Usuna comes connected with the absolute perfection of Cloud 9, today he won his heat again, beating three Australians with 14,76 out of 20 possible points: Ty Watson came second and Martin Cibilic and Joe Van Dijk were out of the event.
In the previous series he had beaten Australians Nicholas Squires and Liam Mortensen and American Jordy Collins. And in the previous one he beat Japanese Takumi Nakamura and Portuguese Luis Perlorio.
Now in the quarter-finals he will face Nick Squires again, whom he beat in round 4.
Another Spanish competitor who advanced a few rounds was Chilean Manuel Selman, who fell today in his round 4 heat and finished 13th.
Among other developments, Miguel Tudela from Peru, who had fought hard against a knee injury, as shown in his stories, was injured again.
