Leon Glatzer on his invitation to Stab High: “It’s going to be amazing”
In an interview, the Costa Rican tells how he received the news and what he thinks about the challenge he has ahead
The second edition of Stab High, an event that in one year became one of the most respected in the world for aerial surfers, will take place next Saturday and will feature Costa Rican Leon Glatzer as one of its 20 select guests.
The news that he was taken into account took Al de Pavones by surprise and in the following paragraphs he shares it and talks about some other details.
How did you find out you were invited?
I was surfing and I came up to my email and out of nowhere there was an email from Stab that said, “Hey Leon, we want to invite you to Waco, Texas to compete in the Stab High tournament, congratulations.”
Have you been to Waco yet?
No, I've never surfed there. I'll have an hour of training the day before and then a competition, so it's going to be very tight, but it's a perfect wave, a perfect ramp so I think I'll do very well.
What was the first thing you did when you heard the news?
It was necessary to order special boards for Channel Islands Costa Rica flights.
When are you leaving?
I'm leaving for Texas on the 27th.
What excites you most about being at the event?
It's being with all those pros, with Chippa Wilson, Noa Deane, with all those legends that I've really admired my whole life, and to be able to compete against them and hang out, it's going to be incredible.
