Leon Glatzer won in England

The Costa Rican and German took his second victory in a QS of his career

Costa Rican and German Leon Glatzer won today stage 37 of this year's QS tour, the Quiksilver Open that took place in Fistral Beach, Great Britain.

In the final, the local from Pavones beat the Brazilian naturalized Portuguese, Pedro Henrique, by 13,50 to 13,07.

“It’s been a tough week working hard in these conditions, so I’m physically and mentally destroyed but on top of the world,” Glatzer told WSL reporters.

“I’ve been working with my new coach Llewellyn Whittaker and we’ve set high standards so there are no distractions for me and I’m 100% focused on improving my surfing, especially on beach breaks,” Glatzer said.

“The CT and the Olympics are my two goals now, in the short and long term, and I am happy to have the support of the German Olympic Committee to achieve these goals,” concluded the champion.

Tied for third place were Eduardo Fernandes of Portugal and Justin Becret of France.

Among the ladies, Yolanda Hopkins of Portugal beat Rachel Presti of Germany (resident of Costa Rica).

Melania Suárez from the Canary Islands and Giada Legati from Argentina and Italy came in fifth place in the event.

The longboard races were won by Edouard Delpero and Alice Lemoigne of France. The circuit will restart next week with the 1500m in Lacanau and the 3000m in Virginia Beach.
