Lisa Andersen is the newest Outerknown sponsor
"We are honored to welcome Lisa to the family," said Kelly's brand.
Four-time world champion and one of the most influential surfers in history, Lisa Andersen, is the newest sponsor of Kelly Slater's company, Outerknown, the brand and the surfer announced on social media.
“Welcome to the family, Lisa Andersen,” the ad begins. It adds: “For much of the 90s, a young woman from Florida named Lisa Andersen dominated women’s professional surfing, capturing four consecutive world titles and redefining the standard of women’s surfing for decades to come. Although Lisa has since retired her jersey, she has continued to be an inspiration and role model for surfers around the world. We are honored to welcome Lisa to the Outerknown family.”
For her part, the surfer stated: “For me, 'Finding Your Outerknown' is often about rediscovering yourself at different stages of your life. It's about being comfortable with who you really are, with how you've grown and evolved as a person. I love how I feel when I wear Outerknown. It's so natural and makes me happy. It's exactly how a surfer should feel when they get out of the water and put on something warm. These pieces are a true reflection of who I am. I feel like a woman in Outerknown. And I love what the brand stands for: taking care of the ocean and the earth, and making clothes more responsibly. That's exactly what I want, too.”
Andersen is now 56, but he still surfs and competes occasionally. In fact, last year he competed in a QS event on the East Coast of the United States.
Like Slater, he comes from Florida, a state that, despite having few waves, has generated more than 15 world titles.
