Local Alex Suárez won the second stage of ALAS and took the lead in the ranking
Ecuador dominated the second stage of the Latin circuit in Galapagos. The tour changes islands and continues in the archipelago
A relatively unknown local surfer from Montañita, Ecuador, named Alex Suarez, outlasted an interesting contingent of big-name athletes and won the second stage of the Latin surfing circuit that took place in Tortuga Bay, Galapagos.
Suárez, who can be seen flying quite a bit in his photos during the event and on social media, seems to have taken the beach break conditions of Tortuga Bay well. In what was a huge Ecuadorian party, he beat his neighbor, Roberto “Bibi” Rodríguez, in the final.

In addition, Felipe Rodriguez, another relatively unknown local, was eliminated in the semi-finals. And, to close, the women's category was absolutely dominated by the queen of Ecuador, Mimi Barona.
With this result, the top of the ranking was held by Suárez, who added 3000 points and could not be reached by Maximiliano Cross, Marcelo Rodríguez, Martín Passeri, or Roberto Araki, surfers who competed in stage 1 in Reñaca.
The tour continues tomorrow, March 21, on another Galapagos island, San Cristóbal, where the third stage of the tour, also with three stars, will take place in Lobería.
