Local in Tenerife assaulted and threw stones at Venezuelan tourists
He then apologized for what happened and explained that it was provoked by the visitors and that it was taken out of context in the videos.
A local man from Tenerife named Tintín punched a surfer in the waves at Punta Blanca Tenerife and then threw stones at a Venezuelan couple after arguing and allegedly kicking two surfers out of the water during a session.
A video published by surfenespañol shows Tintin hitting a surfer and then angrily chasing visitors and throwing stones at them.
The incident, filmed by Alexandra Caraballo, involves her alleged partner, Cristian Mederos (who is presumed to have been hit in the water) and has gone viral and has been published by several sources, causing outrage among internet users who condemned the establishment in the comments.
Then, the business uploaded videos, statements, and videos defending itself.
First, in a post, he stated: “As a local, my intention has always been to maintain respect on the beach, especially with the current overcrowding of surfers in the Canary Islands. In this case, the situation was complicated by the prior provocations of the couple involved and the presence of other people who contributed to the tension. There were two 'men,' a dog that bit me, and an agitated woman. My reaction was to that situation: threats, obscene gestures, insults, finger-pointing, etc. I trust that situations like this will not be repeated in the future. Surfing has its rules. Manipulated videos only reveal an interest in gaining something by provoking these kinds of situations.”
Then he edits videos of the Venezuelan girl, Alexandra, showing her encouraging her boyfriend to defend himself and hitting him with the board.
Then, in a video he films himself, he begins by apologizing for picking up the rocks and "apologizing to the surfing community." He says that no one was hurt and that the video doesn't show what actually happened.
He said that the responsibility does not lie with the locals but with "them" who "did not respect the spot by imposing their way of surfing."
He argues that they disrupted the beach's natural balance, a balance maintained by generations of Canary Islanders who have cared for their waves. "When respect disappears, conflict arises," he explains. And by preserving local culture, "a wave survives."
It is unknown whether charges were filed against the establishment or if the establishment filed charges against the tourists.
