El Salvador finished 42nd in the last junior world championship, which took place in 2019 in Huntington Beach, a tournament in which it participated with only one competitor.

Prior to that, the country did not participate in the 2018, 2017, or 2016 World Championships. It did participate in the Oceanside World Championships in 2015, an event in which the Central American country placed 31st, participating with three competitors.

In Ecuador 2014, it did not participate, but it did in Nicaragua 2013, where it obtained its best result in the history of the event, 23rd out of 30 nations competing with an almost complete team of eight out of 12 competitors.

This year's Salvadoran team has the largest number of competitors since the youth world championship began, with 10 of 12 places filled.
