Lucca, Daniella and Arena advanced in Ballito

Marco, Adur, Leilani, Izzi, Ariane, Leticia and Garazi were eliminated today

The Peruvian trident made up of Lucca Mesinas, Daniella Rosas and Arena Rodríguez managed to advance in their respective round 1 series of the Ballito Pro, stage 3 of the challenger series that was contested today in small waves of half a meter to one meter at their best.

Lucca Mesinas did just enough to dominate his entire heat and drop to a comfortable second place in the final two minutes of the heat. He advanced behind Australian Mikey McDonagh and ahead of South African Max Elkington and Welshman Patrick Langdon.

Now, in round 2, he will compete against Ryan Callinan, Michael Dunphy and Eli Hanneman.

Daniella Rosas, meanwhile, knew how to choose her waves well in a sea where opportunities were hard to find; she finished second behind Australian Keely Andrew but ahead of Brazilian Sophia Medina and Portuguese Carolina Mendes.

In the round of 32 she will now face Keala Tomoda Bannert, Bronte Macaulay and Teresa Bonvalot.

Meanwhile, Arena Rodríguez competed well and although she did not score a high score, she was able to keep up with the rest of the competitors without being surpassed. She advanced second, behind the Australian Molly Picklum but leaving out the South Africans Natasha van Greunen and Louise Lepront.

Rodríguez will face Summer Macedo and two rivals who remain to be defined.

Marco Giorgi, Adur Amatriain, Leilani McGonagle, Izzi Gómez, Ariane Ochoa, Leticia Canales and Garazi Sánchez also competed today, but did not have good performances and were eliminated.
